We decided to give Harrison an early Christmas gift.  We are heading back to NE on on Christmas Eve Day, and wanted to give him a chance to play with this before we left.  We won’t really be able to take it back with us, so we thought we should let him play with it a few days before we left.  I’m sure he won’t be deprived of gifts while we’re there, and we have a few small things left to put in his stocking from Santa on Christmas morning.

Plus he got up very early this morning, so it really was like Christmas morning.  :)

He loved it.  It actually goes on its own when he pushes down on a little pedal with his foot, only about 2 mph.

This is how he drove it for the first few minutes…by pushing on the gas with his hand.  We had to show him several times how to push with his foot.  After he got it there was no turning back!

Kelly’s dad and brother came over yesterday to see Kelly.  They left today when it was in the 50’s here, and then it started turning cold and icy.  We were glad to hear they made it home ok.  Here’s a few pictures from the last few days with all the family.

Playing play-doh with Grandma Osburn.

I think he has perfected his smile.  :)

A train!  He hooked them together like that all by himself.

So my friends Jody, Amy and Cassie have been the ones behind this Water For Christmas deal, and they have done such an amazing job.  As of last Friday, there had been $20,000 in donations made.  $20,000.

That is 4 wells!

So tonight Cassie’s parents, Larry and Candi, hosted a Water For Christmas silent auction at our local country club.  We had great food, a great silent auction, great entertainment (thanks, Andy and the band!) and great company.  We don’t have a total yet, but I think it’s safe to say it is A LOT!  :)  Go check out their blogs to see the pictures.

And we still have a couple of weeks left to raise more.  I am so blessed to be friends with these ladies, and so blessed to be a part of this movement.

We’re home

Amy | Uncategorized | 1 Comment

We’ve actually been home since about 7:30 last night, but this has been about my first chance to sit down at the computer.

Everything is going very well with Kelly.  He’s still pretty sore, and has some air bubbles, but doing great overall.  I think yesterday he was thinking he would be up and moving around faster, but I think today he realized he needs to take it slow.  I’m very thankful he is able to take this much time off of work, and that my parents are able to be here to help out.

Harrison keeps going up to him and kissing his arm.  :)  We’ve told him he can’t climb up on him or anything yet, so that’s his way of giving him some love.

Today Kelly got some broth, jello and juice for breakfast and lunch, and he is drinking some protein supplements in between.  Same for tomorrow.  Then on Monday he’ll get to start on some thicker liquids.

Glad to be home.  Glad to have slept in my own bed last night.  SO glad to see Harrison…it was only two days, but I missed his hugs and kisses.  And, so, so glad Kelly is doing well.  I’m sure it has something to do with all the prayers being said on his behalf.  Thank you!

Good Morning

Amy | Uncategorized | 0 Comments

Kelly is doing extremely well this morning!  Praise God!

He slept really well until about 4:00 am when the lab came in to get some blood work done.  He got up at that time and walked around, which he couldn’t do before because he was still too nauseous from the anesthesea.  He slept a little more after that.

He’s been up this morning walking around, and they took him down for an x-ray to check for leaks in his new plumbing.  The Dr. was there at the time and gave him a thumbs-up, but we have to wait for an official report from the radiologist before he can start sipping liquids.  His throat is so dry, so he is definitely ready for that.  He’ll be slowly sipping liquids, including protein drinks/supplements,  pretty much constantly over the next two weeks.

I think that’s it for now.  Thanks again for all of your prayers and thoughts.  We appreciate them so much!  Check back later for some more updates.

and in between snores, Kelly says “Well, I’m ready to go home now.”  Um, sorry honey.  I don’t think so.  :)

done!

The doctor just came in and said everything went great!  They were able to do it laproscopically, which was a little concern b/c of his previous hernia surgeries, but they did get to do it that way, which will mean an easier recovery.

I’ll be able to go up to his room in about 45 minutes.

Thanks again for the prayers!

Just got here about 10 minutes ago, so they seem to be right on schedule.  Should take about 2 hours total for the surgery, and another 1 1/2 for recovery.  They should come get me in about 2 hours, though, to let me know how everything went.

Thanks for all your prayers.  Kelly seemed a little nervous, but not much.
