Last weekend, the 3rd graders that I had when I student taught (in 1998) graduated!  And today, one of the students that I taught at Faith Academy (she was a 6th grader in 1999-2000 school year) got married!  Where is the time going?

Not too much has been going on lately.  I haven’t been able to put pictures up…Kelly has been working on my computer and hasn’t had a chance to put the software back on yet.  Hopefully soon- I’ve got some cute ones of a new summer cut.

Harrison’s sleeping after a busy morning of playing, and we’ll be going to church later this afternoon.

And it looks like our Chicago trip is actually coming together, so we’re stoked about that.  Thanks to Kelly’s mom and dad for letting us use some points they’ve earned to get a hotel room (that is the biggest expense, but I think I’ve found a good deal at the Inn of Chicago, and it’s only like a block from Michigan Ave, so that will be perfect), and my mom and dad are going to come and watch Harrison.  Not that I don’t trust our friends, I totally do, but I think it will be better for Harrison since we’ll be gone for two nights.  Mom and Dad will be staying for the 4th of July, too, so that will be some good Grandma and Grandpa time.  It will be a lot of fun, and we’re both looking forward to a break and some ‘us’ time.

Did you think you’d ever see me use the word ’stoked’?  Surprised me, too.  Enjoy the weekend!

Please pray!

Our friends Andy and Jody are leaving for Africa tomorrow (Thursday the 29th) to go and pick up their twins, Zeke and Kora.  Quite a few details are not in place yet, so it is proving to be quite the ‘adventure’.  We need to continue to pray for them…I know they would appreciate it.  Pray for Andy and Jody, their travels, and for all for all of their appointments to be coordinated while there.  Pray for Zeke and Kora and their hearts as they are in for a lot of changes in their lives.  Pray for their 4 boys back here, and for Jody’s mom and aunt who will be caring for them.

Andy and Jody are putting this in God’s hands, and He is so faithful.  Please help us pray for them.  They are hoping to return on June 6th, and we can’t wait to have everyone back home!

Harrison has been waking up at like 5:30-5:45 everyday for the last month or so.  Now, I know that there are people everywhere that wake up that early everyday… we are not them.  :)  He used to sleep until atleast 7:30.  And when he wakes up, he is ready to go, and I know most of you know how much energy he has.  But then he would get tired at like 10 in the morning, and be crabby until it was time for his nap.  And sleep deprivation was creeping up on Kelly and I, too.  It’s amazing what an extra 2 hours of sleep a night can do!

So anyway, I got to thinking, and I heard some other people saying too, that their kids had been getting up earlier because of the sun coming up earlier.  So Kelly went and bought a $17 room-darkening shade.  Yesterday H slept until almost 8, and this morning until 7:30.  Ahhhh…life is back in-sync now.  :)

We have been waiting on pins and needles this week for word from the US State Department on their decision to grant two little Sierra Leonian orphans visas and citizenship to complete the adoption process by our friends Andy and Jody Landers. Had a text message from Andy just moments ago:

“Got the call - they said yes! There will be 2 less orphans in the world”

Congratulations, guys!

Maria Sue Chapman, adopted and youngest daughter to Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman, was killed Wednesday night in a tragic accident in the family driveway on Wednesday evening.

You may have been encouraged or inspired by one or many of her daddy’s many songs, so say a prayer for her family as they deal with this loss. Leave them your condolences here if you wish.

For our tenth wedding anniversary in June, I would like to take Amy away for a long weekend (say leave on a Friday and return on Monday) in downtown Chicago - one of our favorite places.

There are some real obstacles to pulling this off since money IS an issue: hotel (mom and dad have some options for us here), food, gas (potentially a big one for even a little trip). It will be a challenge to overcome these, but I think I can pull it off.

The biggest one of all is…leaving Harrison behind. Here is where your vote comes in…is it appropriate to ask friends in town to help us this way? (I say yes while Amy says no) We have never done this before but I believe we need to from time to time. How do you get away with your spouse? (I guess for people with grandparents near by, it is easier…)

So, cast your vote!  Yes or No?  Why or why not?

Since the day I found Harrison pant-less and diaper-less in his crib, I’ve been a little anxious as to what I will find when I go get him after his nap.  Yesterday I found him like this:

He’s never real happy after his nap, and he really didn’t appreciate me taking his picture of him, but it was too funny.  The neck on this shirt was a little streched out.  :)
