I had a date with a Wal-Mart shopping cart tonight. I get groceries by myself when it’s possible, just because it is much easier. Anyway, I had a little thing happened that I just thought was kind of funny. I put the laundry detergent and tp on the belt, and then put my reusable bags right behind them so the clerk could use them to bag up my groceries. She immediately put the stack of bags on the turn-table thing, and started bagging my groceries in the plastic bags. Huh? I politely said, “Oh, I brought the canvas bags to use for the groceries”. She didn’t seem too happy with me, but took the things out of the plastic bag and started using the canvas bag. Is it me, or was that kind of weird? I’m just trying to save the planet, people! Sheesh. :)
I got this little toy drill out after it had been put away for a while, and he loves it! It talks and really turns, and it might help that Daddy was using his real drill to put cabinet doors on our island. I think Harrison wants to be like his daddy! He’s been walking around with his drill ‘fixing’ everything!
We got home from eating Sunday afternoon and Harrison had fallen asleep. We were hoping he would stay asleep, otherwise he is quite crabby for a while. He woke up getting him out of the car, and we had already put his Easter ‘pail’ in the middle of the living room, so he saw it right away. He wasn’t in the best mood opening everything, but he did ok.
Hmmm…what’s this?
Oooo…there’s stuff inside…
Today is the first day of spring…finally! Hopefully from here on out the weather will just continue to get better, although we do have a slight chance for snow tonight. :( At least it won’t stick around long.
Here are some pictures from earlier today…
Harrison ’sleeping’- his mouth is open because he’s snoring.
Harrison ‘eating’ with a pie plate and spoon…
And just some really cute ones…
I mean, really, where is the sun?? I am so tired of this dreary and cold weather. I am SO ready for spring!! Just venting…
We found this cell phone in the toy box at Kelly’s parent’s house at Christmas time and had to take it- it is the cell phone that Kelly had when we met almost 11 years ago. My, how times have changed, huh? And it was normally about twice as thick with the battery on the back of it. The really funny part is our sitter for small group saw it a couple of weeks ago and just couldn’t believe that is how cell phones used to look (she’s 14 now, so she was 3 when that cell phone was in use). She said in a really, sincerely, surprised voice “There’s not even a screen on it!.” Ha! I am kind of starting to feel old.
Here are some new pictures of Harrison- the swinging is from a couple of weeks ago when it was beautiful out on Sunday. It is deceiving because there is snow on the ground, but it really is like 65 degrees, and that’s why he doesn’t have any socks on. :) All of that snow in our backyard is now gone. We still have a little pile in our front yard, but I think it will be gone soon, too.
HERE’S HOW YOU PLAY. ONCE YOU’VE BEEN TAGGED YOU HAVE TO WRITE A BLOG OF TEN WEIRD, RANDOM THINGS, FACTS OR HABITS ABOUT YOURSELF. AT THE END, YOU CHOOSE FIVE PEOPLE TO BE TAGGED, LISTING THEIR NAMES AND WHY YOU CHOSE THEM TO BE TAGGED. DON’T FORGET TO LEAVE THEM A COMMENT “YOU’RE IT” AND TO READ YOUR BLOG. YOU CAN’T TAG THE PERSON WHO TAGGED YOU. SINCE YOU CAN’T TAG THAT PERSON BACK, LET HIM OR HER KNOW WHEN YOU’VE POSTED YOUR BLOG SO HE OR SHE CAN READ YOUR ANSWERS.
I don’t know how exciting this will be, but here ya’ go…
1. Kelly and I met on a blind date and were engaged 6 weeks later. (The second time my parents saw him was when we told them we were engaged…that was fun.
2. Mom, don’t read this…my freshman year of college, I could drink a whole 12 pack of beer by myself in one night. I didn’t do it often, but it was done.
3. Kelly calls me rain-woman- I can tell you almost all of the interstate markers for the stops along I-80 going back to NE. We’ve been by them like 200 times, so I’ve seen them a lot!
4. I passed 5 kidney stones when I was pregnant with Harrison, and several more after that, including one that was the size of a large pea (usually they are about the size of a large grain of sand or a small apple seed). Ouch.
5. In junior high and high school, I would pull trap for the gun club that my dad went to. I even considered joining the trap team for my high school, but that was mainly because I had a major crush on one of the guys on the team. I ended up working as a waitress, so I didn’t join it.
6. One time in kindergarten I wrote on my favorite pink jeans with a pencil, and blamed it on the kid next to me when my mom asked about it. I still feel guilty about that.
7. I went to school in Enid, OK my freshman year at Phillips University, a very small Christian school, where they taught you to drink beer. They are no longer open. I then finished college at the University of Nebraska.
8. I spent a summer working at Kamp Kaleo in Burwell, NE in 1996. It is a church camp where I went in Junior High and High School. I was on a team that did music, arranged activities for the kids, etc… It was a lot of fun. One day, I got locked in my bathroom when the door handle broke. I was only in my robe and a towel that was on my head. They missed me when I didn’t show up for the morning meeting, and they ended up having to take the whole door frame off to get me out. I had to sit there with the lights off because the fan came on automatically and I couldn’t hear what they were saying. I’m just glad I had my robe on.
9. I am scared of the ocean. Every time Kelly and I are at the ocean (we’ve been to Mexico twice and Puerto Rico once) he goes out and when it gets up to his knees I start yelling hysterically for him to get back in where he’ll be safe. I don’t know what it is…it just freaks me out.
10. I have lived in Muscatine now for 1/3 of my life. I can’t believe we’ve been here for 10 years now. In fact it was 10 years for Kelly last Sunday. We weren’t married when he moved here, so he’s been here just a little longer than me. I know this isn’t exciting, but I really can’t think of anything else right now. I might change this one if I think of something really exciting.
And I tag
